Victoria Vazquez
Team Fellowship Award Winner
I am honored to have been chosen by Charity for Champions to receive the Team Fellowship Award. This scholarship means so much to me because it solidified all the hard work and dedication, I put into the West Broward Cheerleading team over the course of four years. It was not always easy maintaining high grades as a student athlete and leader of my team, but this scholarship shows that it was well worth it. I am currently attending Nova Southeastern University as a biology major with hopes of one day pursuing a career in the medical field. My dream has always been to become a Neonatologist (NICU doctor) and this scholarship will help to assist me along the costly journey of college and graduate school. I would love to thank Dr. DeSimone and his charity for being so giving and providing me with this incredible opportunity.

Artistic Achievement Award Honorable Mention
I was so grateful to be able to receive this scholarship and it really did it mean a lot. As I pride myself on leadership and creativity in athletics or just life in general. I’m going to Nova to play basketball on a partial scholarship so expenses had a lot to do with whether I was willing to go to Nova or not. With this money, it will be extremely helpful to help live out my college basketball dreams helping pay for a lot of my expenses. I’m still not sure what exactly I want to major in or do in the future but I see it having to do with helping kids improve whether academically, physically or mentally and can’t wait for what the future holds.

Goodwill Scholarship Winner
I am extremely pleased and honored to receive the Goodwill Scholarship from Charity for Champions. I believe this scholarship was given to me because I’m always looking to help others such as assisting my classmates with assignments and even little things like helping my teammate or opponent to get up when on the football field together. Being recognized for this means so much to me, and I look forward to continuing it. With the help of this scholarship I plan to work in computer science, most likely cybersecurity. I’m attending Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee and am most looking forward to the research they are doing with St .Judes Hospital. They are using algorithms to determine genetic components to childhood cancer there, and I want to make a difference with this. I want to thank Dr. DeSimone in particular for all of the support he gives so many students to follow their dreams.
